General Questions

  1. Who is eligible to apply for a grant?

    Eligibility is open to individuals, organizations, and groups who are committed to enriching the lives of children and youth (ages 0-18) and their families in the town of Sandwich.   2. What types of grants are available?

    Grants are available in three categories: Programs, Projects, and Special Events.

  3. How much funding can I apply for?

    There is no set limit to the amount of funding you can apply for, but grants will be awarded based on the merit of the application and available funds. Typical grants are awarded between $500 and $5,000 unless otherwise noted.

Application Process

  1. How do I apply for a grant?

    Applications can be submitted through our website between June 1 -September 1. Sometimes additional funding is available through a Community Choice grant. That timeline will be posted on social media, including our Facebook and Instagram.

  2. What information is required in the application?

    Applicants will need to provide details about their proposed program, project, or event, including objectives, timeline, budget, and expected community impact. Additionally, applicants must explain how their proposal aligns with The Sandwich FUNdation's mission and vision.

  3. Can I submit more than one application?

    Yes, applicants may submit multiple applications, but each must be for a distinct program, project, or event.

Review and Selection

  1. How are grant applications evaluated?

    Applications are reviewed and graded by a committee using a rubric based on fun/enjoyment, uniqueness & creativity, community reach, feasibility, budget, support/partnerships, sustainability/long-term value. 

  2. When will I be notified if my application is successful?

    Applicants will be notified in late September regarding the status of their application.

  3. What happens if my application is approved?

    Successful applicants will be invited to accept their funding during a brief grant ceremony at the Lighting of the Littlest Christmas Tree.

Post-Grant Questions

  1. Are there any reporting requirements for grantees?

    Yes, grantees will be required to submit a simple report (photos, video, and even an email will suffice!) detailing the use of funds and the impact of their program, project, or event on the community. 

  2. Are there any other requirements for grantees? 

    Yes! The Sandwich FUNdation will provide a sign and a photo opportunity at your project/program/special event. As a grantee, we reserve the right to promote and advertise using photos, videos, and copy. A photo release form will be provided. 

  3. Can the funds be used for purposes other than what was specified in the application?

    No, funds must be used strictly for the purposes outlined in the approved application. Any changes must be communicated and approved by The Sandwich FUNdation.

  4. What happens if the project or program cannot be completed as planned?

    Grantees should inform The Sandwich FUNdation immediately if they encounter any issues that may impact the completion of their project or program. The foundation will work with grantees to find a suitable resolution.

  5. Can I apply for funding again in the future?

    Yes, past grantees are welcome to apply for future funding as long as they meet the eligibility requirements and have fulfilled all reporting obligations for previous grants.
